International English Language Testing System (IELTS)

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is one of the world’s most popular English Language proficiency tests for higher education and global migration and is accepted and recognized by schools, universities, employers, immigration authorities and professional bodies in such countries as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and the USA. It is jointly managed by the British Council, Cambridge ESOL Examinations and IDP Australia.

The test is available in two formats, Academic Module, for study purposes, or General Training Module, for work or immigration purposes.

The Academic Module tests a student’s readiness and competency to study or train, using English as the working language, at an undergraduate or postgraduate level.

The General Training Module is suitable for test takers who are going to English speaking countries to undertake work experience or to qualify for immigration to any of the countries mentioned above.

Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP)

The Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP), on the other hand, is an English Language proficiency test designated by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

The CELPIP Test is the only Canadian test designated by IRCC to assess functional language proficiency in English and plays an important role when applying for permanent residency status in Canada or Canadian citizenship.

Preparation

ELS has a designated program that will assist you in preparing for the IELTS or CELPIP tests.

We will guide you through the various strategies and tips required for success in all four of the language skills - reading, writing, listening and speaking - that are assessed.

Working methodically through a series of sample test papers supported by audio CDs as well as a variety of literary texts of increasing complexity and role play situations, that will deal with each element of the test in turn, the program will culminate in a final test under examination conditions and an overall band score will be attributed to the student by the language instructor.

This way, the student will have a clear idea of how he or she can expect to do in the all-important real exam.

Both these programs are best suited for students who have reached the CEFR proficiency level of B1 or above.
